Dec 17 - Last chance before Christmas

As we approach the day that we celebrate our Savior's birth...

...what better way to prepare than to drink coffee, eat donuts and
talk with friends!

Come out to 58watt this Wednesday and help us get ready for Christmas.
Bring a friend.
Or two!

In Him!
Bruce and the 58watt team

PS - We will NOT be open on Dec. 24th or Dec. 31st!
We look forward to seeing you this Wednesday and then next year!

Open again...

Now that we've all eaten all the turkey we can stand...
it's time to eat some more donuts! (Sounds a bit like a Chick Fil A commercial!)

58watt will be open at 5:30 on Dec. 3, as usual.

Come out and enjoy some coffee, donuts and friendship this Wednesday!
We look forward to seeing you again!

Living in His grace! (ask us!)

A "two for one" special message

First, on Wednesday, we'll have our usual coffeeshop - coffee, donuts,
conversation and hanging out.

Second, on Friday, Jake Smith will be performing a FREE CONCERT for
us. That's Friday, Oct. 24th. The music should start around 7 pm.

We look forward to seeing you all there, both nights!

Peace!
Bruce and the 58watt team

PS - there should still be a good selection of pumpkins available,
come early and pick just the right one!

A confession!

I confess, I'm a slacker. I just checked the date on my previous
reminder and it was 4 (FOUR?) weeks ago! That's hard to believe.
I guess I've been so busy that I lost track of time.

I'm glad that God never loses track of time. He knows when is the
right time for everything! Every year, Fall comes along at just the right
time. Harvest season. The beginning of the "Holiday Season" - from
"Reformation Sunday" to "Valentine's Day".

Speaking of the harvest season, come out to 58watt early Wednesday
night. Trinity's Pumpkins Under The Oaks is set up right at our front
doorstep. You can select just the perfect pumpkin from the 1000 or
so available.

As of this morning, there were still piles of debris beside the road
and driveway, so watch carefully that you don't miss the turn!
(We've called - they've not come to pick it up!)

Hope to see you there.

A couple of weeks and two hurricanes...

Thanks be to God that Trinity Oaks (where 58watt is located) came
through the storms with no real damage! Yes, some trees were lost, but
none fell on anything important (people, house, etc.)

The big yellow and white tent is gone, too. No, it wasn't blown away
(we took it down and anchored it in place.) But now, it's covering a
gigantic hole in the home of one of our church members. Gustav knocked
a 100' tall oak right through the middle of their house and made a
hole too large for any available tarp to cover! Pastor Dave remembered
the tent - and so it serves yet another purpose.

Just so you know, (unless the power goes out again) 58watt will be
open on Wednesday, Sept. 17 from our usual 5:30 till 10ish. Our sign
(such as it was) was destroyed, too. Now, you'll have to watch for the
driveway between the piles of tree debris. The security light at the
street is still working, so that should help if it's dark.

Come on by, share your hurricane stories, donuts and some freshly
brewed coffee.
Let us know if you need anything, due to the storms and we'll see if
we can "hook you up", too!

Blessings and Peace!

Another week has already passed...

It's hard for me to figure out where all the time goes!
(OK, work and the Olympics have taken most of it this week.)

It seems like just the other day, we were up at 58watt
sharing coffee, donuts and conversation - and here it is
Wednesday - and time to do it again! :-)

We're excited about seeing everyone again tonight, and we'd
really like to meet some new people. Not that we don't like
y'all - we just need somebody to come eat donuts when you
can't be there! :-) Really, bring a friend.

Peace,
Bruce

Olympics, music, coffee, etc.

Just a reminder! (TWO...so please read!)

OK, for this week it is just a reminder again.

We'll be at 58watt tomorrow from 5:30 - 10:00.
The coffee will be HOT - or COLD, depending upon what you want.
The music will be gentle - mostly.
The conversation will be interesting - hopefully! :)
The internet will be ready for browsing...

...and - it's all free.

Next week - July 9th - we'll have a performance by Jacob's Ladder.
They are a blues-styled, 6-7 piece band.
It should be a fun time - so plan ahead to bring a friend!

See ya' there!

Peace!
Bruce

PS - "regulars" bring in those personal coffee mugs - there will be a
quiz later in the summer!

God's creation

This week's update is going to be a little different...

I just watched "In the Shadow of the Moon" on Discovery.
Not only did it bring back some fantastic memories, but
it reminded me of the absolute WONDER of God's creation.
(If you need to start a conversation at 58watt, just ask me
something about the space program.)

The pictures and the recollections of the astronauts really
bring home the fact that we are such a tiny part of God's
creation - yet, He knows each of us by name! WOW!

Come talk about it at 58watt this week!

Peace!
Bruce

PS - Don't forget your personal coffee cup, too.

Tuesday, June 17, 2008

New music...

Come see what we have in store for you this week!

Please bring your custom coffee mug (and yourself) to enjoy!

Remember, we open up at 5:30 every Wednesday.

Blessings - and see you tomorrow!
Bruce

Today!

Sorry about the late reminder - I forgot to send it! (Guess I need a
reminder for the reminder!?)

Anyway, we still need your "custom" coffee cups at 58watt.
We have cups from John, Jonathan, Karla and me.

Last week's music was a surprise - let's see what happens this week!
Don't forget to bring along a friend who needs a place to hang out for
conversation, care and comfort, too.

Blessings!
Bruce

Personalize your 58watt experience

This week, I'd like our regulars (and newcomers) to bring in a coffee cup of their own! If you don't drink coffee, bring one in anyway - they work for other beverages, too! :-) Bring one that's distintive and shows the "real you", we'll keep it at 58watt for you!
(preferrably a regular sized cup, so we can store/display them more easily)

We'll figure out a way to display them with your names (and maybe a photo?). That way you (and we) can get to know everyone by name and face.

If you check the web site, you'll note that we've scheduled "Jacob's Ladder" to play for us on July 9th. They are a 6 (or 7) piece band, playing blues-style Christian tunes. It promises to be a very entertaining and uplifting evening.

We are still working on finalizing dates for WALK and Ben Kennedy.

I'm looking forward to tomorrow - hope you are, too!

Peace,
Bruce

PS - Don't forget to bring a friend!

Free live music this Wednesday

Brand new band, WALK, will be performing for us soon (we're working on
the date). Two of their members, Josh and Lane, will be doing some acoustic songs
for us this week.

Come out and show your support for them - and enjoy the music.

See you there!

Blessings!
Bruce

Better weather forecast for this week!

Well, last Wednesday was another of those "frog-choker" days. I
estimate we received 9+ inches of rain between Wednesday and Thursday.
We had a few visitors who braved the nastiness to come study and a
couple who came to where there was power (theirs was out)! We plan on
being open regardless of the weather - unless there's a hurricane
coming or something extreme like that.

The forecast for this Wednesday looks a lot better, so we are praying
that more folks will be able to make it out to 58watt this week. (We
can't eat all the "donuts" by ourselves, so please come give us a
hand!)

Blessings,
Bruce
(for the 58watt coffeeshop team)

A couple of photos from Grand Opening

Here's Jake Smith performing for our Grand Opening.

We had an "up close and personal" concert - and it was great.

We are planning to do this regularly. Please suggest any artists or groups that you know who are looking for a place to play.

Thoughts on Grand Opening

As usual, God's plans and my plans were not entirely in sync...
His are always better!

We had terrible weather all afternoon and into the evening.
Traffic was miserable everywhere.

But, Jake Smith was early and we had time to visit and get him set up. The entire team made it through the traffic jams, etc. to get here. Several non-team-member visitors from church and a couple of "real" visitors braved the traffic and the weather to come check it out.

What they found was a nice evening of relaxed conversation, music and relationship building. I think that everyone enjoyed themselves, that all felt uplifted and, at the end of the evening when the team gathered, we decided that it was exactly right.

God only knows what will happen next Wednesday...really.
So, come out and see!

Grand Opening Tonight

We are really looking forward to getting started...

Join us for some good music, relaxing time and conversation!

I'll try to post some pictures and comments during the evening - but I hope that I don't have time!

Guinea pigs...

Well, our first test run with people other than ourselves went fine. And, as of last report, they are all STILL doing fine! It's getting pretty exciting, with an updated look and arrangement at "the Big House", with everyone taking part and with seeing the Spirit at work.
If you haven't invited someone to come to the Grand Opening, do so now!

See you Wednesday...
Bruce

Approval

Last night the TLC Voters assembly approved of and voted their support for the 58watt coffeeshop! Praise God for the unanimous support!

The real work can now begin! We'll be installing the espresso machine, getting signage and setting up "shop". I'll be posting a real Grand Opening date as soon as I have the details worked out. We are looking for Trinity members who are willing and able to commit to join us every Wednesday for about 3-6 months, to act as buddies or guides for our visitors.

Please contact me at bruce@58watt.org for more info or to volunteer.

Visited a different sort of coffeeshop

Tonight, Vicar Jonathan and I visited Peter at his shop - Insomkneeacks (I think I spelled it "correctly"). We didn't realize that Wednesday is Poetry Night! We heard some amazing poems and some good music. I pray that we can have even more of a "following" than we found at Poetry Night!

All's Well, so far...

The Executive Committee had a few questions and some requests - none of which are big issues. They suggested that Evangelism make a motion at next Monday's Voters meeting, asking for support. I'm composing one now and will email it to Woody tomorrow. I pray that the Voters will really get behind this effort!

Planning and preparations are underway!

There are many things still to do, but I'm confident that He will guide us toward a successful launch. Tomorrow night, I'm going to present the proposal - ok - the progress to the Executive Committee...
