We're open - REALLY!

Hi everyone!

Even with the construction starting on S Harrell's Ferry, and several large
piles of blue water pipes out front, we ARE still open on Wednesday nights!
Come in and share a nice cup of coffee, tea or hot chocolate; the latest news;
some donuts; whatever!

With Christmas on Friday this year, we expect that lots of you will be traveling
or busy on Wednesday that week, so we're going to be closed on Dec 23rd.

That means that the New Year also starts on Friday of the following week.
Most of our team will be unavailable that Wednesday, too. So, much as I
hate to say it - we'll be closed for the holidays on Dec. 23rd and 30th.

Please come visit with us this week or next and then after the first of the year!

Tonight (Aug 26)

Hey Everyone,

If you haven't had a chance to write a note to Jay already,
please take a few minutes and do so. If you can bring them
to 58watt tonight, we'll deliver them to Jay for you.

If you can't get it done by tonight - please do so as soon
as possible. He will be meeting with the negotiator real soon.

Thanks, and see you at 58watt,
Bruce

An important request from the 58watt team!

Hi All,

As you may know, Jay's Donuts has been graciously supplying us with mountains
of donuts every week for over a year - for FREE!

What you may or may not know is that Jay's will be closing when the construction
gets underway at the corner of O'Neal and S Harrell's Ferry!
This will be a sad day for our neighborhood.

Jay is in negotiations with the parish regarding the valuation of his property.
We are hoping that if Jay gets enough compensation, he will be able to reopen
somewhere nearby.

I ask that each of you take 5 or 10 minutes and write a letter to Jay, expressing
your thanks for his generosity and his support for/involvement in the betterment
of our neighborhood.

Please do so as soon as possible, sign them and either bring or mail them to him
at the shop. He will see that they get to the parish's negotiator. It doesn't have to
be anything fancy or eloquent, but the more he gets the better!

His address is:
Jay Lindsey
Jay's Donuts
2991 Oneal Ln
Baton Rouge, LA 70816-3184

Thanks and Praise for His servants, like Jay,
Bruce and the team

Tonight (Aug 5)...

Hoping that everyone had (or is having) a great Summer.

If you are heading back to school in the next week or so,
wouldn't a good cup of coffee and a donut be just what the
Dr. ordered to take your mind off of all the "excitement?"

If you are, let's just say, past that point in your life, come
out, too.

In any case bring a friend or two, come make some new ones!

Peace,
Bruce and the 58watt team

Happy 8th of July!

OK - I forgot to include an Independence Day greeting in my last notice, so I'll do it now.

We thank God for our freedom, freedom from sin, death and the power of Satan.
We also that God for each of you and hope to see you at 58watt this week.
We'd love to meet some new folks, too - so bring a friend!

In His Peace,
Bruce and the 58watt staff

OK - I'm a slacker...

I've been kind of a slacker on getting reminders out.
Here's one to help make up for it.
We'll be at 58watt on Wednesday (as usual) from about 5:30ish - 9:00 or 9:30.
Come out, bring a friend (or two or three).
We'll have coffee, donuts and conversation - as usual.

In the front room, there will also be a discussion of "The Benefits of Being a Christian".
Who knows, we may even have some more surprises!?

Please post your comments and questions below!
We can get this discussion started here, with your help.

Open again on May 20th!

58watt will be open again on May 20th, so come on out.

My family spent the last week touring our nation's capitol,
Williamsburg, Yorktown and Jamestown. It was busy and fun!
It's inspiring to see what visionary men thought, then did to
establish this great country of ours.

And, contrary to today's common opinion, they did it with one
hand on the Bible. It was reassuring to see God mentioned on
the walls of almost every public building. And in most of the
important founding documents and early letters of our founding
fathers.

Let's "remind" our public officials of that every election day!

See you tomorrow night!

Important Note!

OK - I know we just started back at our regular time...
but since most of the crew will be out of town this week on
Wednesday, we're going to take a 1 week break.

If you know someone who's not on the email list, and/or wasn't there
this past week - PLEASE let them know.

We hope to see all of our regulars on Wednesday, May 20th -
and maybe some new faces, too!

We are looking forward to some exciting changes coming later this
Summer...what, you ask!? You'll have to come and see.

God's Blessings and Peace to you!

We now return to our regularly scheduled coffee...

We're now open again from 5:30 till ... every Wednesday!

Bring someone who's never been.
We love meeting new people (they haven't heard our stories)!

In the light of Him who lights the world!

58watt will be open Ash Wednesday...but...

...in order for the 58watt staff to attend church on Wednesday,
we'll be opening shortly after 6:00 rather than 5:30.

Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, but then if you live in South Louisiana,
you know that.

Our church, Trinity Lutheran, has Lenten services every Wednesday in
Lent. Each Wednesday in Lent, we take time to remember the tremendous
sacrifice that Jesus made for us, as we prepare to celebrate his
resurrection on Easter Sunday.

So, we'll be deciding tomorrow if we'll keep this schedule until Easter.

Oh - and of course - you are all invited to attend the Lenten
services, too! 5:00 and 6:30 at Trinity Lutheran on Florida Blvd
just West of Sherwood.

For the 58watt team!

Happy New Year!

Wednesday, 58watt coffeeshop will reopen after the CHRISTmas break!
We'll be ready to go at 5:30, as usual.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and joyous CHRISTmas.
And a fun New Years.

With any luck it will at least be cool out, and a nice hot cup
of coffee (and a donut - of course) will hit the spot!

Invite a friend who needs a caring, comfortable place to hang out.

Peace!
